Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

A pathway for those who already have skilled work experience in Canada.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of the three federal programs managed through Express Entry. It's specifically designed for temporary workers and international graduates who have gained skilled work experience in Canada.

If you've already been working in Canada, CEC could be your fastest route to permanent residency.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for CEC, you need:

  • At least 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the last 3 years
  • Work experience in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations
  • Meet the required language levels in English or French (CLB 7 for NOC 0/A, CLB 5 for NOC B)
  • Plan to live outside the province of Quebec

Why Choose CEC?

CEC is popular because:

  • No education requirement (though education adds CRS points)
  • No proof of settlement funds required (if currently working in Canada)
  • Generally lower CRS cut-off scores compared to Federal Skilled Worker
  • Canadian work experience is highly valued in the CRS scoring system
